January 2025 Portfolio Update: A Quiet Month with Strategic Adjustments

January 2025 was a relatively quiet month, marked by the post-holiday lull and growing anticipation for the upcoming Chinese New Year. Work was uneventful, and the month passed by without much activity. Similarly, my portfolio saw minimal adjustments, with the exception of some trading activity involving $trump, which I eventually offloaded in batches.

Portfolio Overview (cut off 30th January)

As of January 2025, my total portfolio (excluding war chest and endowment) stands at SGD $131,971. While progress has been steady, I still have a long way to go before achieving my financial targets.

Singapore Holdings: Holding Steady

My positions in Singapore-listed stocks remain unchanged this month. However, watching Capitaland Investment’s daily decline has been disheartening. Despite the pain, I’ve chosen to hold my position for now, as I believe in its long-term potential.

Recently, I’ve been contemplating whether to divest my stake in Genting Singapore and reallocate the funds to more promising opportunities. This decision is still under consideration, as I remain undecided. For now, I don’t foresee making any changes to the rest of my Singapore holdings.

US Holdings: Nvidia Strategy Update

I continue to hold my position in Nvidia, though I’ve closed my covered call positions. The recent “mini crash” triggered by the release of Deepseek presented an opportunity to lock in some profits. I also took advantage of the dip to add 5 more shares using the profit, bringing my total Nvidia holdings to 185 shares.

While I’m waiting for the right moment to re-enter covered call strategies, it’s worth noting that Nvidia’s overall allocation in my portfolio has decreased despite the increase in position size. This is primarily due to the drop in its share price, which has impacted its weighting.

Crypto Holdings: Shifting to Stability

I’ve exited all my $trump positions, recovering my initial capital and securing gains from the trade. The proceeds were converted into Bitcoin, which explains the increased allocation to Bitcoin in my portfolio. This move reflects a strategic shift toward a more stable and established cryptocurrency.

Overall Portfolio Activity

In January 2025, I did not inject any new funds into my Singapore, US, or crypto portfolios. All income generated from various streams was parked in my bank account, earning a modest 3%+ interest. While the month was uneventful, I remain focused on identifying opportunities to optimize my portfolio in the coming months.

Looking Ahead

January may have been quiet, but it provided an opportunity to reflect and strategize for the year ahead. As always, my focus remains on balancing risk and reward while staying disciplined in my investment approach. Here’s to a productive and profitable 2025!
