My Evolving Path to Financial Freedom
I’m still very much on my journey toward F.I.R.E (Financial Independence, Retire Early), though my recent posts about property might make it seem like I’ve already “made it.” The truth is, I’m still walking the same road as many others: learning, experimenting, and adapting as life and markets change.
Why Property Keeps Catching My Attention
Because of the nature of my work, I interact regularly with property managers, agents, facilities managers, developers, and contractors. Over time, those conversations have opened my eyes to how real wealth is often built, quietly, through property ownership and management.
That exposure planted a seed in me:
Maybe property investment isn’t just for the ultra-rich. Maybe it’s another path, or even a complementary one, toward financial independence.
My Current Foundation: Equities
My “Yolo” Corner: Crypto
On the other end of my portfolio sits my crypto allocation, my high-risk, high-reward segment. I treat it as my YOLO asset class. I don’t over-allocate, but I keep it for exposure to innovation and long-term potential.
It keeps investing exciting, while my core holdings keep things grounded.
Looking Ahead: Building Useful Assets
Moving forward, I’m planning to add more tangible, productive assets beyond equities, and that’s why I’m exploring property.
Imagine this:
Even after you retire, your investments don’t just sit in a brokerage account, they work for you, month after month, in the form of rental income.
That’s not just passive income.
That’s permanent income, the kind that can sustain you for life.
Final Thoughts
For me, financial freedom isn’t about quitting work early.
It’s about building layers of income that continue to flow, even if I stop working one day.
And if one day I can collect rent till the day I die, that, to me, will be true financial independence.
